Women in almost all the project areas are poorly represent in many situation. They are severely disadvantaged in one or other pretext women are often with a silent voice and isolated by society from the decision making procees and taking no part in the decisions which most affect their lines. Even when women are the targets of gender specific programs they are rarely involved in the process of planning and implementing. Rural women are too often disadvantaged in relation to the control of resources socially, culturally and economically.

The contribution they make to the society is not matched by the benefits accruing to them control and management of productive assets always reminded with the male. The problems of the women and nature of the project areas considering the problems and on the basis of the problems analysis particularly unemployment and under employment prevailing in the project areas and based on their social occupational and economic system.

UWF has formed 920 SHG’s in Chennai, Nagapattinam District and Kanchipuram districts with the support of Tamilnadu Women Development Corporation and NABARD. UWF provided training for SHG members, leaders and those who are wiiling to start micro,macro enterprise on various trades and skills The group members of women are engaged in the income generating activities under the monitoring of the trust.
